Maui vacations are set around beaches, there are over 42 miles of them. Sunsets in Paradise is near many of the best beaches in the world. We are nestled between the resort areas of Kaanapali and Kapalua. Both have lovely beaches, with many amenities. There are many other hidden and not so hidden beaches to explore around the island. Olowalu near mile marker 13 is a family favorite with its gentle waves and shallow waters, perfect for play.
Hookipa is a favorite for windsurfers, turtles and monk seals. The famous black sand beach at Waianapanapa state park. Theres Big and Little beach in Wailea. The unofficial rumor is, Little beach is known for those who like a little less fabric and more skin for their swimming attire. (Although, nude beaches are not permitted in Hawaii) There are even green sand and red sand beaches along the road to Hana.

The Road to Hana, 52 miles of curvy ocean road and one lane bridges. It is not as harried a drive, as it once was, but it is best to allow a full day for this beautiful must see. It is full of breathtaking landscapes, refreshing waterfalls, even a church built entirely out of coral. Pack a picnic to eat at Waianapanapa state park or one of the other lovely stops along the way or stop for lunch in Hana town. You can continue on to Oheo Gulch for a dip in the sacred pools, on the back side of Haleakala National Park. Go a little farther to Charles Lindberghs gravesite at Palapala Hoomau Church. Please be respectful.

Have you ever wondered what Mars, or the moon looks like? Visit the crater at Haleakala National Park to get an idea. The summit is 10,000 feet above sea level, offering unmatched views. It is approximately 20-30 degrees cooler up there. It is wise to take warm clothing. Be on the lookout for the Nene, the state bird of Hawaii. They are endangered. There are many hiking trails to explore, too. You can stop Upcountry in Kula or Makawao for lunch and see what these quaint towns have to offer.
